McLean County Museum of History
The McLean County Museum of History is easy to find. It's right in the heart of Downtown Bloomington. The stately former county courthouse has been converted into a national award-winning museum. If you are within a three-block range of downtown, you can often hear the distinctive toll of the bell on the hour and the half hour. The elegant copper dome with its lighted clockface is a landmark in the night sky.
Inside, you'll find an extensive and eclectic collection of artifacts and archival materials, plus exhibits that relate to the life and times of McLean County since before the first white settlers arrived. In addition to permanent exhibits, rotating exhibits and special programs bring our rich local history alive. You can hear music, see plays and learn about the many remarkable people who have helped make this area such a great place to live and work.
