Each scene, either hand-carved or oil-painted, is an original design by artists Steve and Martha Brown.

Steve's designs are sketched on wet leather so they can then be carved in with ease. His traditional leather tools bevel and mat the shapes to give the 3D effect. Leather dyes, acrylic paint and antique finish are the finishing touches to the tooled LEATHER SCENES.

Martha's love of the Southwest and U.S. lighthouses finds its way to the "canvas" of soft, milled leather she wraps over a frame. Favorite birds and raptors of the country fly from her brush to the leather and perch on the soft, grainy branches. A rustic rope "frame" is the perfect finishing touch to her LEATHER SCENES.

Maintaining Steve and Martha's leather artwork:
Very little care is required of either artwork. Each has been sealed with a leather finish. Steve's tooled work can be dry or damp-dusted. A leather-care product such as Armor-All can be used to "shine" the finish if desired. Martha's painted leather art should be lightly dusted as needed. Again, a leather-care product such as Lexol-nf, can be lightly applied to the unpainted area. Avoid rough handling. Do not allow moisture to remain on the leather. It is important to keep all types of artwork out of direct sunlight.
